Fun and frolic mark Children's Day
PANCHKULA: Fun games, fetes, annual day celebrations and sports activities were organized to mark the birth anniversary of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru celebrated as Children’s Day in various schools across the city here on Saturday.
Celebrations were on at satluj public schools in sectors 2 and 4, Hallmark School of Education (HSE) in Sector 15, DAV Senior Secondary School in Sector 8, Mahatma Hansraj Public School in Sector 6 and Kendriya Vidyalaya 1 Chandimandir.
“We decided to celebrate it differently. Our teacher not only entertained the children but also gave them valuable advice on issues related to health, personality development and their future,” Jivtesh Gupta, the school director said.
Among those schools who began their annual day celebrations included St Xaviers School in Sector 20 and Manav Mangal School in Sector 10, while annual sports activities was held at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15.
In a programme organized at Inderdhanush Auditorium, the students of junior and senior sections showcased programmes reflecting the growth of school over the years.
Principal George S Shear read out the annual report and complemented the parents and teachers for the achievements of meritorious students.
At Bhawan Vidyalaya school principal Shashi Banerjee inaugurated the meet and Panchkula district education officer (DEO) Nalini Mimani gave away the prizes to outstanding sportspersons from junior section.
Spirits ran high as Hansarians celebrated the day in a gala event organized by EHSAS (Ex-Hansarians Students Association).
The fun fete had more than 50 beautifully decorated stalls of food and games. Special stalls were put up to promote social causes.
The fete also featured performances by two famous rock bands: Harmonic fiction and ATM. School band Aalap also give a mystical performance.

PALAKKAD: It was a different experience for students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya who celebrated the Children's Day with the less fortunate on Saturday.
Scouts and Guides volunteers, members of the Integrity Club and five teachers of the Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1 celebrated the day with the tribal children of Kava at Malampuzha.
The team was guided to the place by members of the Sathya Sai Trust, Olavakkode.
The children of Kava offered a warm welcome to the students and remembered Jawaharlal Nehru’s love for children. They also recited some local tribal songs. A community lunch was organised by the school authorities with the help of the Sathya Sai Trust for the tribal children.
Clothes and gifts were also distributed to the tribal children.
